Acid attack victim gets Rs1 lakh compensation

Jalandhar, September 6
As per the directions of Rupinderjit Chahal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jalandhar, Dr Gagandeep Kaur, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Jalandhar, met Rajrani, an acid attack victim undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.
An interim compensation of Rs 1 lakh was deposited in the bank account of the victim today.
Rupinderjit Chahal said the acid attack victims were entitled to get compensation under the NALSA’s Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault/Other Crimes, 2018.
On August 30, acid was thrown on the victim by her co-worker in the factory she was working. The victim was then admitted at Civil Hospital.
An FIR in this regard had already been lodged.
