A Kolkata-based non-profit trust, Prabha Khaitan Foundation, organised The Write Circle session to delight the literary enthusiasts of Jalandhar with an engaging interaction of Deepti Naval with conversationalist Simran Paintal.

The actor-cum-writer was in city with her book ‘A Country Called Childhood’ which takes a peep into her childhood, gives an account of her coming-of-age during the tumultuous 1950s-60s, her unforgettable childhood, unconventional Punjabi family, and her early love affair with cinema and her silver screen snippets.

The event was organised with the Ehsaas women of Jalandha r— Simran Paintal, Ruhi Walia Syal and Sonia Aggarwal. Known for her portrayal of ‘close to life’ characters in the area of art cinema, the actor shared with everyone some anecdotes from her early days in Amritsar — the unique, strange set up of her house, her parents, their relations and the impact of the whole unconventional set up on her mind in her formative years.
