Adampur scrap dealer wins Rs 2.5cr lottery

Adampur resident Charan Das Jaggi, son of Pritam Lal Jaggi, alias Pritam Kabaria, has won the first prize of Rs 2.5 crore of Rakhi Bumper-2024.

Pritam said his family has been into the scrap dealing business for several decades.

He said to date he could not build his house and shop due to financial constraints.

He added that he had been buying lotteries for the past 50 years, when a lottery ticket would cost just Rs 1. He said he and his wife Anita Jaggi bought ticket number 452749 from an agent who came to sell lottery from Jalandhar last week. It was issued by Luthra Lottery Agency, Jalandhar.

He said on Sunday morning, when he saw the result of the lottery in the newspaper, he came to know that the first prize was ticket number 452749.

However, he did not reveal about it to anyone and went to the Nirankari satsang house in Adampur as per his routine.

When he came home, he got a call from the lottery operator from Jalandhar that he had won the first prize of Rs 2.5 crore of Rakhi bumper.

He said he would spend 25 per cent of the prize money on social service and for the welfare of poor.
