Admn imposes complete ban on public display of weapons in Kapurthala
In an effort to maintain law and order, the Punjab government has enforced strict regulations, prohibiting public display of weapons in Kapurthala district. Exercising powers under Section 163 of the Citizen Security Code-2023, District Magistrate Amit Kumar Panchal has issued an order banning the exhibition of firearms in public places. This prohibition extends to social media as well.
According to the order, there will also be a complete ban on songs that glorify weapons or violence. Carrying or displaying weapons at public gatherings, religious places, weddings or other events is strictly prohibited. The order further bars any speech inciting hatred against any community.
To ensure strict enforcement, all SSPs and SDMs in the district have been made responsible for implementing these restrictions.
District Magistrate Panchal has made it clear that any violation of these orders will result in strict legal action by the Police Department. The order will remain in effect till March 31.
