Advocate granted interim bail in cheating case
Advocate Mandeep Singh Narang, a member of the Bar Association, Phagwara, has been granted interim protection from arrest by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kapurthala.
The case involves allegations of cheating and forgery under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC. Advocate Narang had filed an anticipatory bail application on March 18, which was listed for arguments today. However, the prosecution failed to produce the case records before the court.
Considering the arguments presented by defence counsel Advocate Karanjot S Jhikka, the court granted interim relief and stayed Narang’s arrest until April 1, the next date fixed for arguments.
The legal fraternity has welcomed the court’s decision, emphasizing the importance of fair investigation and due process. Advocate Narang’s interim protection ensures that he is not subjected to undue harassment while his plea for anticipatory bail is under judicial consideration.
The matter is now scheduled for further arguments on April 1.
