Ahead of the Independence Day, the Commissionerate police have ramped up security measures across the city’s outskirts, particularly in under-construction areas, to ensure the safety and security of citizens. The initiative, led under the directives of Commissioner of Police (Jalandhar) Swapan Sharma, aims to pre-empt any potential threats during the state-level celebration.
A comprehensive inspection was carried out by ACP (Central) Nirmal Singh, along with officers from the Rama Mandi police station and the Dakoha police post. The team focused on under-construction colonies, where they meticulously checked for any suspicious activities.
During the operation, police officials interacted with local residents, informing them about the heightened security measures and sharing essential contact information, including the helpline number 112, PCR vans, and the mobile numbers of local police officers. “These efforts are designed to foster community cooperation and ensure a swift response in case of any emergency or suspicious activity,” said ACP Nirmal.
He said tenant verification was also a key part of the inspection, resulting in four individuals being questioned. After a thorough scrutiny, they were released as no suspicious activities were detected.
“The Commissionerate Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious behaviour immediately. The intensified security measures underscore our commitment to maintaining peace and order,” he added.
