At the 64th National Open Athletics Championship being organised at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, Amandeep clinched a bronze medal in the 800-metre race, clocking an impressive time of 2:04.78. She also played a key role in helping her team secure a silver medal in the 4×400-metre relay.
The young athlete has been making waves in Indian athletics in recent months. Just two months ago, she won gold in the 800 metres and bronze in the 1500 metres at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event.
Amandeep’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. Hailing from Ghall Kalan village in Moga, Punjab, she comes from a humble background — her father works as a labourer and her mother as a domestic help. Despite ongoing financial hardships, Amandeep has remained resolutely focused on her goals.
Her coach, Deepak Kumar from Dasuya, expressed pride in her achievements. He said, “She has consistently pushed her limits and never let circumstances define her. Her performance in Ranchi is another step towards her bright future.”
With continued perseverance and support, Amandeep Kaur is fast becoming a name to watch in Indian athletics.
