Jalandhar ammonia leak: No casualties, 35 workers safely evacuated

The ammonia gas leak at the Sports and Surgical Complex in Jalandhar resulted in no casualties, with all 35 workers safely evacuated. Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal confirmed the successful rescue operation following the leak from a safety release valve at M/s Metro Milk Products on Monday evening.

Emergency services responded promptly, with a fire brigade team arriving at the scene within five minutes. They initiated the evacuation through an emergency exit, ensuring the safety of all workers involved.

Dr Aggarwal stated that the situation was brought under control within an hour of the incident. To prevent any further leakage, a special team from Verka Milk Plant was called in to shut down the pressure lines of the air compressor, stabilising the situation completely.
