Android-based machines for water, sewerage bill collection launched

The Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, launched the latest Android-based PoS (Point of Sale) machines for on-the-spot water supply and sewerage bill collection.
The system was launched today by Mohinder Bhagat, Minister of Defence Services Welfare, Freedom Fighters & Horticulture, along with Mayor Vaneet Dhir.
The Municipal Corporation has been using GPRS-based PoS machines since 2016 and with advancements in technology, the corporation has now upgraded to the latest Android-based PoS devices equipped with smarter, stronger, and more user-friendly features.
During the launch ceremony, the minister handed over the upgraded PoS machines to the water supply and sewerage billing collection field staff, marking the beginning of a more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven billing system.
With this advanced system, billing and collection operations will become faster, more accurate, and more citizen-friendly, ensuring improved service delivery across the city, the officials said.

Geo-tagging with longitude and latitude capture for every bill ensures authenticity and location-based verification.
Complete consumer information display, including water & sewerage bill details, arrears, and account history.
Integrated QR code on printed receipts, allowing citizens to make quick digital payments and verify billing details instantly.
Real-time data syncing with the centralised server for transparency and accuracy. Faster processing speed with an updated interface for field staff convenience.
Cash and UPI payment acceptance for seamless on-the-spot billing.
