Annual sports day

Jalandhar: Apeejay School, Rama Mandi celebrated its annual sports day. Vice-Principal Aarti Shorey Bhat started the day by hoisting the school flag and declaring the meet open by releasing colourful balloons. The air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes once the track and field events began. The pre-primary and primary section students participated wholeheartedly in fun-filled games like frog race, hop race, crawl race and obstacle race. Students of Classes VI to VIII also competed in various games. Fun time with a staff 100 m race added to the enjoyment. TNS

Mock budget presented

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) held a mock budget. It was presented by the PG department of economics as a part of EcoEcho Fest. The fest also included rangoli and choreography on the prevailing economic scenario of the country. Participants played out the process of budget presentation with students living up the various characters—Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Home Minister. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the mock budget which helped them to understand the process of budget presentation and developed critical thinking among them so that the students should be able to look at both sides of a coin. In rangoli competition, 25 students participated and covered several pertinent issues like GST, girl education, international trade, inflation and unemployment. Students of BCom (Hons) Sem III presented choreography on economic problems.

Lecture on cancer immunology

Jalandhar: A guest lecture was organised on cancer immunology at Medical Lab Science department of Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions. Dr Archana Dutta (oncologist, PIMS Hospital) acted as a resource person. Dr Dutta enlightened students regarding cancer development process. Emphasises was laid upon the concept of cancer immunotherapy. She stated that this therapy uses substances made from living organisms to treat cancer that helps the immune system of human body to fight against skin, lung and kidney cancer.

Farewell for Class XII students

Jalandhar: The KCL Collegiate School of Girls, Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, Jalandhar, organised a farewell party for the outgoing girls of 10+2 on the college campus. Principal Dr Navjot and Dr Rupinder Kaur (Dept of Music) were present. The principal urged the students to work hard for their upcoming exams so that this happiness spans in the future too. She also said such events were dedicated to make the students realise their importance and wished them for their future. The students presented vibrant events as dance, games, poetry and modelling. Nishita was crowned Miss Farewell, Khushi was judged as Miss Charming while Simran Bhakta won the title of Miss Elegant.
