Armed Forces Flag Day to be observed today, says DC

Stating this, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal asked the students of Sainik Institute of Management Technology to create public interest regarding Flag Day, so that maximum awareness could be created and promote maximum financial contribution from all citizens of the district in honour of the flag.
The DC paid floral tributes at the martyr’s monument on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Armed Forces Flag Day provides a golden opportunity to pay respect to the brave soldiers and their families. She appealed to the heads of all departments to contribute to this noble cause by collecting the maximum amount.
Wing Commander Gurpreet Singh (retd), Military Services Welfare Officer, said the amount collected on Flag Day is used for various welfare schemes implemented by the Central and state governments and for serving soldiers/their widows and disabled soldiers. According to the notification of the Government of India, the amount donated for Army Flag Day is exempt from income tax.
