Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today reviewed the arrangements for the district-level Republic Day function.

The event will be held at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium on January 26, where Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will be the chief guest, who will unfurl the national flag on the occasion.

Around 2,000 students will participate during the district-level R-Day event and the final rehearsal will be held on January 24, DC Vishesh Sarnagl said here today. Tableaus showing development works by various departments will also be presented during the event.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said the administration has already allocated responsibilities to various departments for the smooth conduct of the Republic Day event so that all necessary arrangements can be made on time. He further said that proper arrangements will be made in terms of cleaning, decoration, security, parking, alternative traffic arrangements, drinking water, seating arrangements, deployment of medical teams, uninterrupted electricity supply etc.

He said during the event, impressive march past will be conducted by contingents of Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guard, NCC (boys and girls) etc. Troupes will be marching past besides various cultural performances.

He said the preparations for this mega event are going on in full swing and the Republic Day event will be celebrated with full patriotism and nationalism.
