The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Hoshiarpur, has issued warrant of arrest against the Executive Officer, Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT) for non-compliance of the commission’s order.
YP Syal, an advocate from Hoshiarpur, told this correspondent that he was allotted a residential plot in Surya Enclave Extension by JIT in 2011. He completed the payment of Rs 70,00,000 by 2014 but no development was done by the JIT in the Surya Enclave Extension.
No roads, sewerage, lighting or other facilities were provided and the scheme had failed. In 2016, the JIT had relaunched it but the situation remained same. He filed an application in the DCDRC in 2020 and the case was decided on January 2, 2024, in which it had ordered the JIT to refund the amount with interest and damages amounting to Rs 1,40,34,820 but the JIT failed to do so. Advocate Syal flied an application for execution of the order in which the DCDRC issued the warrant of arrest to in-cherge, Tamili Branch, through the SSP, Hoshiarpur.
