Ashok, one of the union members, said until the demands were not met, they would not start lifting. Garbage was spilled on the roadside. Rajinder Beri, former MLA, Jalandhar Central, had recently alleged that the ‘’Swachhta’’ drive was started only for photo-ops and practically nothing was happening on the ground.

“Only photos were clicked, nothing else happened during the drive. It seems that the Punjab Government is doing ‘safai’ by only talking about it. There are mounds of waste everywhere. City roads are a big proof of this,” he said.

The MC Commissioner recently checked streetlights in various areas of the city till 2 am. The areas that were inspected are BSF Chowk, Ajit Nagar and Focal Point.
