The son of an ASI is the sixth accused in Jalandhar grenade attack case. The police arrested Rohit Basra, a resident of Khichipur village, in this connection. His father is an ASI in the Jalandhar (Rural) police. Basra is accused of providing weapons at Jandu Singha village to miscreants for carrying out the grenade attack. The five accused arrested earlier were identified as Hardik Kamboj, Amritpreet Singh, Dheeraj, Satosh Pandey and Lakshmi.

Meanwhile, a Pakistan-based — Shehzad Bhatti — the man who first claimed credit for the attack recently released another video on Instagram, this time targeting the police investigating the case. In the video, Bhatti expressed apprehensions over the police probe. He also reiterated his earlier claim that Jalandhar-based Sandeep Sandhu, alias Rozer Sandhu, had insulted Islam in his videos. Meanwhile, Sandhu had denied the allegations.

A grenade-like object was hurled at the house of YouTuber Navdeep Sandhu at Raipur Rasoolpur village on March 16. A case was registered at the Maqsudan police station in this connection. Besides the six arrested accused, Shehzad Bhatti and Baba Siddque were named in the case.

Naveen Singla, DIG, Jalandhar Range, said, “Rohit Basra was arrested last evening. He had provided weapons to accused for carrying out the attack.”

Gurmeet Singh, SSP, Jalandhar, said, “Eight people have been nominated in the case. Investigation is on to trace their associates. As far as videos are concerned, there are people who keep posting useless things on social media from other countries.”
