Asmita Hockey League: Muktsar, Mohali teams storm into semis
In the Asmita Hockey League (Junior and Sub-Junior Girls) being organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), in collaboration with Hockey Punjab at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, the teams of Muktsar and Mohali entered the semi-finals in the junior category. On the other hand, the team of Muktsar reached the semi-finals in the sub-junior category on Monday.
The last matches of the league round were played on the third day of the league. The Jalandhar team, which had already entered the semi-finals in the junior category, was held to a 0-0 draw by Muktsar to secure its place in the semi-finals. In Pool A, Jalandhar finished first with 7 points after three league matches and Muktsar finished second with 4 points after three league matches.
In Pool B, the match between Bathinda and Amritsar ended in a 0-0 draw and both the teams got one point each. In Pool B, Bathinda team finished first with 7 points after three league matches and Mohali finished second with 6 points. In another match, Hoshiarpur defeated Ludhiana by a margin of 2-0 to register its first win in the league round.
In the sub-junior category, Muktsar defeated Hoshiarpur by 4-0 and Jalandhar by 1-0 to enter the semi-finals. In Pool A, Mohali finished first with 9 points after three wins in the league round and Muktsar finished second with 6 points. In Pool B, Bathinda defeated Amritsar by a margin of 1-0 to finish first with 9 points from three league matches and Amritsar finished second with 6 points from three league matches. The best player was announced after each match and was given a stick as a prize by Alpha Hockey.
