Astrologer booked on fraud, rape charges

The police have registered a case under Sections 376, 384, 420 and 506 of the IPC against an astrologer on the charges of cheating and raping a student, a resident of Shivpuri, Ludhiana, on February 3 in Tarn Taran.

The victim in her complaint told the police that she fell in love with a classmate and their relationship continued for three years. Last month, she had a break up. After that the victim read an advertisement of an astrologer, Rehmet-ul-Rehman. She contacted him on phone and told her about her breakup and sought a remedy for the same.

She told the police that the suspect allegedly called her to Tarn Taran on February 3 and raped her.

The police are investigating the matter. No arrest has been made so far.
