Dr Bali said during the scrutiny of the case, the land purchaser (woman) could not disclose the source of purchasing the immovable property worth Rs 72 lakh. The I-T Department raised a demand of Rs 79 lakh, which included the penalties under the I-T Act. Despite repeated reminders to realise the outstanding amount, the said assessee could not deposit the amount of Rs 79 lakh, so the I-T Department was forced to attach the property. — OC
