Seven persons, including the driver, were injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned on the Sultanpur Lodhi road near Kapurthala late last evening. The incident occurred when the vehicle hit a pothole, causing it to lose balance and overturned.

According to sources, driver Avinash was returning home to Pithorahaal village in Sultanpur Lodhi after visiting Mata Bhadrakali Temple in Shekhupur along with his family. On the way back, the auto-rickshaw reportedly encountered a deep pothole on the poorly maintained road, leading to the accident.

All injured passengers were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Kapurthala.

The police have been informed about the incident and an investigation is underway. Meanwhile, residents and commuters are raising concerns about the deteriorating condition of the road and have been urging the administration to carry out repairs to prevent further accidents.

“The administration must take quick action to fix the roads. This accident could have been far worse,” said a local resident at the scene.
