Awareness camps on women welfare schemes held
Jalandhar, July 26
A 100-day awareness campaign is being organised on the instructions of the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department and Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal to spread awareness regarding the Mission Shakti, Mission Poshan and Mission Vatsalya among district residents.
District Programme Officer (DPO) Manjinder Singh said as many as 26 awareness camps and door-to-door programmes had been conducted at different places in the district so far. He said in these camps, detailed information was being provided regarding District Hubs, Sakhi One Stop Centres, District Child Protection Unit and Nutrition Abhiyaan, which had been established for the empowerment of women by the Punjab government.
He said the purpose of the camps was to provide information about welfare schemes and legal services being run by the government for women and children.
He said under the campaign, awareness activities were being conducted in schools, colleges and anganwadi centres across various blocks and more such programmes will be conducted.
