Youth who recently returned home after surviving the natural disaster at Manimahesh have appealed to the government for immediate assistance to rescue those still stranded in the region.
Keshav of Bhikhi Pind, along with Dhairya, Kunal and Mohit of Hoshiarpur, met former MP Avinash Rai Khanna and shared the harrowing experiences of pilgrims affected by the calamity during the Mani mahesh Yatra. They informed Khanna that a cloudburst and landslide had left pilgrims stranded at multiple locations in the mountainous terrain.
The youths reported that several pilgrims lost their lives in the tragedy, while many remain missing. They described how damaged roads and persistent floodwaters forced people to wait for days in remote areas with little access to help. They urged Khanna to raise the issue with the Government of India to expedite rescue operations and ensure the safe evacuation of those still trapped.
Responding to their concerns, Khanna stated that BJP MLA Dr Janak, MP Rajiv Bhardwaj, and media in-charge Karan Nanda were actively engaged in rescue efforts at Mani Mahesh. He added that he too was making every possible effort at his level to support the affected people and facilitate relief operations.
