Badminton Championship held

Jalandhar: DCJ Badminton Championship was held in Doaba College, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari graced the occasion as chief guest on the occasion. He was accorded a hearty welcome by Prof Sandeep Chahal, Dr Ominder Johal, Prof Rajni, coach Gagan Ratti, staff and students. Prof Sandeep Chahal said 43 non-player students participated in championship. League matches were conducted in three days in boys and girls singles and doubles category among girls in singles Dipa Kumari defeated Sanveer 2-0, in doubles Dipand Vishakha defeated Simran and Sanveer 2-0.Among boys in singles, Robin defeated Kush 2-0 and in doubles Kush and Prashant defeated Vansh and Gagandeep 2-0.Among teachers, Dr Rakesh Kumar bagged first, Prof Gursimran Singh second and Dr Ominder Johal third position. Bollywood Hungama organised

An extravagant event ,‘Bollywood Hungama’, was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, GNDU, Regional Campus, Ladhewali. The event had different categories like dialogue delivery, quiz, singing and dancing. Students from various colleges and universities of the city participated in the event. Ripam Banga, a Punjabi singer, Prabhjot Kaur, a Kathak exponent and Ankur Sharma, a theatre personality, were the judges on the occasion. In singing, the first prize went to Apeejay College of Fine Arts. Second prize went to GNDU College, Ladowali road. In dance, the first prize went to DAV College, and second prize to HMV College. In dialogue delivery, the first prize was clinched by DAV College and second prize by HMV College. In quiz contest, the team of the host college won the first prize where as that of IKGPTU got the second prize.

Bird feeding activity

State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised an activity of Nursery to UKG kids where they were told about how to prepare a bird feeder and its significance in today’s drastic climate changing era. The mentors introduced them how to make bird feeder and use it in most sensible way. They were demonstrated how to put feed and water in the feeder and where to place so that maximum birds can use it. They were told about the struggles the birds are having in such a warm and humid condition where globle warming is at peak. The tiny tots loved the activity and enthusiastically became active participants of this activity.

Self-esteem competition

Guru Amar Dass Public School conducted a self-esteem competition. In the junior wing, students of Grade 1 and Grade 2 presented self-introduction and participated enthusiastically. In Grade 1, Ranfatehveer Singh stood first, Gurasees Kaur and Prabhsimran stood second and Kavya stood third. In Grade 2, Smrathdeep got first position, Kulraj Singh obtained second position and Kashish and Jaismeen stood third. On this occasion, president Ajit Singh Sethi, Vice Principal Dr Sonika Singh and Examination in charge Renuka Angrish congratulated the students and encouraged them for their future competitions.

Orientation Programme for parents

An orientation programme was organised at CJS Public School for the parents of classes I and II in the school campus. On this day, a PowerPoint presentation was shown to the parents. Looking into the concern of increasing health issues these days, amazing tips on “how to maintain good health at young age” were given. An interactive talk on “Good Parenting” was presented. Few teaching strategies like activity based learning, focus on learning skills, enhancing spoken English, co-curricular activities for the overall development of the students were discussed. In the end, parents were encouraged to ask their queries and put forward their suggestions for the students’ overall development.

Tagore’s International Smart School

Tagore’s International Smart School organised “An Orientation Programme” for the parents of the pre-school students for the session 2022-23 on the school premises. The occasion was graced by Dean Vinod Shashi Jain and Director Ruchika Jain. The programme was commenced with the ‘bouquet ceremony’ and “lamp lightening” by the dignitaries. The teachers performed encapsulated mesmerising performances ranging from ‘Welcome song’, yoga and dance which encouraged a prolonged appreciation from the audiences. Later, respective teachers gave an overview of the various subjects and the activities that emphasized on motor skills, reading skills, language skills and numbers, shapes and pattern work.

Visit to Jang-e Azadi Memorial

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus Rama Mandi organised a visit to Jang-e-Azadi Memorial, Kartarpur, on the occasion of World Heritage Day. The aim of the visit was to spread awareness among students about the dying cultures and natural heritage around the globe. Students were apprised with the history of Jang-e-Azadi Memorial that was built in commemoration of the unparalleled sacrifices of Indian’s and Punjabi’s for the Independence of India. The visit aimed at disseminating knowledge and making them understand and appreciate the value of heritage.

Club activities at dips

Flag Bearers Franchise activity was organised at DIPS School, Mehatpur, to make the students aware about their right to vote. During the activity the students selected by the Incharge of Pearl, Sapphire, Diamond and Ivory House got their names registered for the candidature post. The House In-charge said that these candidates have been selected keeping in mind their studies, discipline, leadership, goodwill towards their classmates and juniors. The candidates placed their manifesto in front of the students of their club for the claim of various posts.

Lyallpur Khalsa students excel

Students of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, performed well in Guru Nanak Dev University exams. In a press release, the Principal of the College Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra informed that Navjot Kaur, a student has bagged 1st position in the Master in Tourism and Management (MTM) - I Semester by getting 552 marks out of 600, whereas Manpreet Kaur of the same class bagged 3rd position by getting 545 marks, Amritpal Singh bagged 4th position by getting 544 marks, Mandeep Kaur bagged 5th position by getting 542 marks, and Kajal bagged 9th position by getting 520 marks. President of the College Governing Council Balbir Kaur congratulated the students and wished them success in life.
