Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain held a meeting with officials of various departments and heads of langar committees in the District Administrative Complex regarding smooth operations during langar in Mata Chintapurni fair, starting from July 25.
After discussions and consensus with the langar committees, the Deputy Commissioner said that in public interest, DJs and single-use plastic will be banned during the fair. She appealed to the langar committees and said that for smooth flow of traffic, committees should not come on to the road and distribute langar. This should be done only at the designated place only to maintain cleanliness. The DC assured that the district administration would leave no stone unturned to ensure the smooth running of the fair.
Jain appealed to the langar committees to maintain cleanliness and not to use single-use plastic as it has been banned by the Government of India and the Punjab Government. Registration is necessary for setting up langar and it can be done by the langar committees at the SDM office, Hoshiarpur.
The DC also instructed the Municipal Corporation, National Highway, Public Works Department and Mandi Board to ensure patch work of the roads under their jurisdiction. She appealed to the devotees not to use heavy vehicles to reduce the risk of accidents. She directed the RTO Hoshiarpur to ensure checking in this regard.
The GM Roadways was asked to ensure that devotees do not sit on the roofs of buses and the buses are not overloaded. She asked the Municipal Corporation and Public Health Department to make arrangements for mobile toilets for the convenience of devotees and provide food samples, ambulances, medical teams and other health facilities.
Aashika Jain directed the Municipal Corporation to make arrangements for cleanliness and fire brigade, The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) was asked to conduct checks related to DJs and use of single-use plastic.
