Jalandhar, March 11

Activists of 35 Sikh organisations under the banner of the Alliance of Sikh Organisations and Darbar-e-Khalsa on Wednesday announced that they will gherao residences of some state MLAs as part of their campaign to seek justice for families of victims of the Bargari and the Behbal Kalan incidents.

The activists said the Congress government had failed to give justice to the families though it was one of their poll promises. Leaders of the alliance said on March 15, a dharna will be held outside Patti MLA Harminder Singh Gill’s residence, on March 22 outside Faridkot MLA Kushaldeep Singh Kiki Dhillon’s home, on March 29 outside Khadoor Sahib MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki’s residence and on April 5, protest will be held outside Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal’s residence.

Sukhdev Singh Phagwara said: “After passage of over 18 months, the investigation into the incidents has not been withdrawn from the CBI. Those leaders who had assured of justice during a special session of the Vidhan Sabha in August 2018 are now silent.”

The leaders said the Congress government was towing the line of the Shiromani Akali Dal on the issues. The previous government had shielded those accused of impersonating Guru Gobind Singh and also the culprits of the Maur blast, they said. — TNS
