Bhangra competition

Jalandhar: A bhangra team of Lyallpur Khalsa College embarked on its latest journey with the advent of the International Folklore Festival 2020 to be held in Thailand, South East Asia. Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra expressed his best wishes for the team which has already been victorious in the recently concluded Zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Festival, Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr Samra also recalled that the team members, Jasonpreet Singh and Gurpal Singh, have been adjudged as best performing artists and therefore, the college’s status as true representative of Punjab and Punjabi culture has been further consolidated with such representations on international level.

English Olympiad

Jalandhar: Students of HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School participated in the 10th IEO which was organised by Science Olympiad Foundation, New Delhi, in collaboration with the British Council .The Olympiad mainly focuses on practical use of English and communication rather than rote learning and grammar. Around 230 students participated in the first level. In this competition, Jaismeen Kaur of SSC-I (arts) won gold medal and qualified for second level. Srishti Garg bagged silver and Riya Sharma won bronze medal. Banisha, Vishavdeep Kaur of SSC-I (comm) won gold and silver medal respectively.

National Science Exhibition

Phagwara: Kamla Nehru Public School was declared winner at the CBSE National Science Exhibition 2020. The team comprising of Phalak Lamba and Samriti of Grade XI and mentor Rajeev Vashisht was awarded under resource management category. The exhibition was held at Sun City School, Gurugram. The students had prepared the project on title, ‘The liquid gold’, which was selected among more than 600 projects. A working model of the project is installed on the school premises also.

Farewell Party

Jalandhar: A farewell party for outgoing students of Class XII was organised at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg here on Wednesday. The programme consisted of a plethora of entertaining events. The memories of days spent in their alma mater were presented emotionally through a medley performance by students. Fusion dance, bhangra and band performance mesmerised the audience. Poem recitation by a student added an emotional touch to the occasion. Musical performance by teachers was highly applauded. Principal Girish Kumar addressed the students on the event.

Fit India plog run held

Jalandhar: As per the guidelines of the AICTE, the students of Pyramid College of Business & Technology participated in Fit India plog run, in order to promote cleanliness and fitness. With the guidance and encouragement of Director PCBT Dr Sanjay Bahl, the students spread awareness on need of cleanliness. The students of PCBT cleaned the nearby surroundings of the college while running. They spoke to local people and told them about the importance of cleanliness. They carried garbage bags and collected plastic waste and gave a strong message shun plastic and spread awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Fit India programme.

Jaskaran Bags gold in Karate contest

Jalandhar: Jaskaran, a Class VIII student of State Public School, brought laurels to city by winning gold medal at the 12th Indo-Nepal Karate Championship recently. He was unbeatable at the championship and made the school and his family proud with this achievement. President Dr Narotam Singh, vice-president Dr Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Savina Bahl, congratulated him on this victory and wished him success. TNS
