Hoshiarpur: District BJP president Nipun Sharma has released a list of district-level officials of the party. Meenu Sethi, along with Vinod Parmar, has been appointed district general secretary. Suresh Bhatia, Satish Bawa, Krishan Arora, Davinder Dua, Rakesh Kumari, Gurpreet Kaur, Bharat Bhushan Verma, advocate DS Baghi and Gurjeet Singh Wadhawan have been picked as district vice-presidents. Rakesh Suri, Sudhir Sharma, Surinder Bhatti, Narinder Kaur, Varinder Bittu, Trimbak Soni, Manoj Sharma and Rakesh Parsowal have been appointed district secretaries. Bindusar Shukla has been appointed treasurer and advocate Rohit Sharma co-treasurer. Kamal Verma has been picked as press secretary and Shiv Kumar Kaku and Jyoti Kumar Jolly as press co-secretary, Mahinder Pal Dhiman as district office in-charge and Ajay Jain as co-office secretary. Shop owners distribute masks

Jalandhar: Acceding to the appeal by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, sweet shops owners across the district on Sunday distributed free masks to customers who came to purchase sweets and gifts on the eve of Raksha Bandhan. Besides giving a special permission to owners of sweet shops to operate on Sunday in view of Raksha Bandhan, the CM had urged them to provide a pair of masks to each customer to sensitise people of the need of wearing masks. Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM-1) Jai Inder Singh also held meetings with members of the Sweet Shops’ Owners’ Association and urged them to sensitise people about wearing masks and also underline strict actions taken against the people who violated Covid norms.
