While the administration and social service organisations continue their relief efforts for flood-affected families, the sisters of the Brahma Kumaris Ashram, Subhash Nagar, Phagwara, have also stepped forward to serve those in need.
According to Ashram director BK Suman Didi, the initiative is receiving strong support from Vipin Khurana, president of Janata Seva Samiti, along with his team. With the assistance of Ashram members, including BK Rakesh Kumar, the group recently handed over relief material to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Phagwara for distribution among flood-hit families.
In addition, the Ashram team visited Baupur village in Sultanpur Lodhi, where they distributed shoes, slippers and 50 ration kits to the affected households. The flood victims were also served freshly prepared kadhi-chawal at a community kitchen, which saw the participation of devotional singer Ladli Sonia and Raj Mani Sharma.
The Ashram has further adopted two flood-damaged houses in Sangra village, pledging to carry out their repair work soon.
Several members, including BK Anjana Ghai, Sister Vijay, Sister Yash, Jugal Kishore Chana and Ashok Wadhwa, were also present during these relief activities.
