Hoshiarpur: In the case of threatening a security guard at a government college about three weeks ago, the police have registered a case against three. ASI Balveer Singh said in his complaint that on January 24, the police received information that two youths were roaming in a government college without identity cards. When the security guard on duty stopped them and asked for their identity cards, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and started threatening him. After this, when some people gathered there, the accused fled from there, threatening them. The police have registered a case against Mankaran Singh Deol of Surya Enclave, Jalandhar, and two others in the case. oc
Three ' drug peddlers' held
Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested three 'drug peddlers' on the charge of selling intoxicated tablets. As many as 650 tablets were seized from the possession of the accused Jagir Singh, alias Bagi, of Boot village in Kapurthala, his brother Kashmir Singh, alias Biru, and Kulwant Singh, alias Kalu, of the same village. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them and a motor cycle was impounded. oc
Many booked for village theft
Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing parts of transformer from the fields of a farmer. Gurdeep Singh of Tagarr village complained to the police that the accused stole oil and wires from a transformer in his fields. A case has been registered against them. oc
PO arrested in 2020 case
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding for the last few months. The accused has been identified as Hani Varma, alias Loota, of Mohalla Baghwala in Shahkot. The accused was wanted in a case of selling illicit liquor registered in August 2020 and as was declared PO in September 2024. oc
Married woman found missing
Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have registered a missing report in connection with disappearance of a married woman. Sunil Rane, a native of Bihar and living in Pandori Khas village, complained to the police that his wife Sangali and his daughter Shivani went out of home on February 13 but did not return home. A missing report has been registered. oc
Rs 2.99L duped, one booked
Hoshiarpur: The police have named the accused travel agent on the charge of allegedly cheating a person of Rs 2.99 lakh on the pretext of sending him broad. Rajinder Kumar of Muradpur Awana told the police that in the name of sending his son to Portugal, travel agent Parminder Singh of Theh Barnala had allegedly cheated him. After registering the case, the police has started further action. oc
