Phagwara: A retired Army jawan was allegedly attacked with an iron rod by his neighbour in Satnampura, Kapurthala. Complainant Mahinder of New Mansa Devi Nagar was taking a morning walk around 4:15 am when his neighbour Bharat Bhushan confronted him. Bhushan, armed with an iron rod, hurled abuses at Mahinder. When the latter protested, Bhushan allegedly struck him multiple times, causing serious injuries. Mahinder sustained wounds. A case has been registered. oc
Phone shop owner attacked
Phagwara: The police have registered a case after a shopkeeper was attacked for refusing to recharge a mobile phone. According to a complaint lodged by Vikas Sharma of Lakhpur, he was threatened on the mobile phone to recharge a mobile phone, and upon his refusal, several individuals entered his shop armed with weapons. The assailants allegedly assaulted him, inflicted injuries, and issued death threats. oc
Two held with intoxicants
Phagwara: The Kapurthala police have arrested two persons in separate incidents under the NDPS Act with 178 intoxicating tablets. In the first case, a police team was patrolling near Prabhuja Mandi, Sheikhupur, when they intercepted a youth.He was allegedly found carrying 120 tablets. In a separate operation, a patrol team noticed a woman acting suspiciously near Akal Academy, Lakhna Kalan. She attempted to discard a black polythene bag upon seeing the team. She was detained. On inspection, 58 tablets were recovered. oc
Dacoity accused held after 11 yrs
Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) who had been absconding for 11 years. The accused has been identified as Iqbal Singh of Khanpur Dhadda village. The accused was wanted in two cases of dacoity and attempt to murder registered in November 2012 and was declared a PO in March 2014. The police also arrested another PO Jaspreet Singh of Gokul Nagar, Hoshiarpur, wanted in a case of dacoity and firing registered in 2017. oc
Drug peddler arrested
Phagwara: The police have arrested three individuals in separate drug-related incidents. Prabhjot Singh of Ravidas Nagar was caught with 21 gram of narcotic substance during a raid by the Sadar police. Sukhwinder Singh from Bhunga, was arrested by Hariana police with 50 gram of heroin. Aman Kumar of Mukerian, was apprehended with a large quantity of banned pills. oc
