Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have yet to arrest two murder-accused POs who have been on the run for 23 years. They had murdered a local jeweller Mimik. Janak Raj of Suffi Mohalla, Nakodar, who was employed at the jewellery shop of the victim's grandfather at Sarafan Bazar, along with his accomplice Sonu of Ferozepur district and then residing in Mohalla Saran, Nakodar, were declared POs. oc
Villager dies

Phagwara: A villager died in an accident on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Raj Kumar of Mahunwal village. Vijay Kumar, son of the deceased, told the police that his father died in an accident. The police, acting under section 194 of the BNSS, handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem. oc

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding for the last several months. The accused has been identified as Lovpreet alias Gori, son of Paramjit, a resident of Kayam Wala village, and wanted in a case of theft registered in June 2020. oc

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested a person for selling illicit country-made liquor. As many as 15 bottles of hooch were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Jasveer Singh, a resident of Sarihn village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the him. oc

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a man on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 110 tablets (loose) were recovered from the possession of the accused Tirath Ram, alias Joti, a resident of Mao Sahib village. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. oc
Couple dies in accident
Hoshiarpur: A couple died in a road accident on Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh road. Ajit Kumar of Mohalla Fatehgarh told the police that his father Jagdish Raj and mother Kripal Kaur were returning on Activa on Saturday. When his parents reached near Ram Colony, a bus passing there hit them. His father was taken to a private hospital, where the doctors declared his father dead. His mother was referred to the PGI, where she also died. oc
