Brief: Four booked for elderly’s suicide
Phagwara: The police have booked four persons for abetting suicide of 75-year-old man. The accused have been identified as Malkit Singh, Pritam Singh and Balveer Singh, all residents of Kara Ram Singh village, and Varindar Singh of Malout in Muktsar Sahib. Hardev Singh of Kara Ram Singh village complained to the police that the accused mentally tortured his father, who committed suicide on February 21 morning. oc
driver booked for mishap
Phagwara: The police have booked an unidentified SUV driver for causing death by negligence. Malkit Singh of Mujaffarpur village complained to the police that a vehicle hit his brother Gurjeet in Sarihn village Adda and killed him. A case had been registered against the accused. oc
Woman held for smuggling
Phagwara: The police have arrested a woman on the charge of smuggling and selling liquor. The accused has been identified as Nirmal Kuar, alias Nimbo, of Jannia village. Twelve bottles of whisky were recovered from her house. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has registered against the accused. oc
