Brief: Gold stolen from Phagwara's Friends Colony

Phagwara: A major burglary was reported in Friends Colony, Phagwara, where thieves broke into a house and fled with valuables worth several lakhs. According to house owner Kulvir Singh, he was alerted by neighbours, who noticed the locks of his house broken. On rushing back, he found the house ransacked. The burglars had stolen a gold bangle, a chain, two LCD televisions, taps, and other household items. At the time of the crime, he and his family were at the hospital as his father was unwell. oc

Two held with intoxicants

Phagwara: The Kapurthala police have arrested two men after recovering a large quantity of intoxicating tablets from them under the NDPS Act. A police team was conducting patrol near Fagrawal village when they noticed two youths approaching on foot. On spotting the police, both attempted to flee but were caught. The suspects were identified as Inderjit Singh and Kishan Singh of Fagrawal village. During the search, the police recovered 97 tablets. oc

Bike parts thief nabbed

Phagwara: A man was caught allegedly stealing motorcycle parts in a Kapurthala village.The accused Harpreet Singh of Tajipur was apprehended around 1:30 am on the intervening night of September 13-14 in Dariyewal village under Talwandi Chaudhrian police station. Divindarpal Singh, a farmer told police that for several months, farmers had been facing repeated thefts of starter motors and electric wires from their agricultural motor pumps. During vigil, villagers found Harpreet breaking the lock of a motor and attempting to remove its starter. He was overpowered on the spot and handed over to police. oc

Man dies in bike accident

Phagwara: A tragic road accident near Badshahpur village in Kapurthala district claimed the life of a young man. The police have registered a case against three individuals. According to a complaint lodged by Inderjit Singh of Fagrawal village, he was returning home around 6:15 pm on his motorcycle when another speeding motorcycle, carrying three youths, collided with his nephew Lovepreet's bike. The impact of the collision resulted in Lovepreet Singh's death on the spot. Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered. oc
