Brief: Man held for murder bid

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have arrested a miscreant on the charges of attempt to murder and firing. The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh of Ismailpur village. Jogindar Singh of Pati Akalpur Malsian village had complained to the police that he along with five members of the Excise Department and a gunman were returning from Sutlej near the village after destroying a huge quantity of lahan when the accused and his accomplices attacked them with dangerous weapons and one accused opened fire in the air and again fired at one of them who escaped and when they raised alarm the accused fled away. oc

Three ‘drug peddlers’ held

Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a person on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 24 tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Satnam Singh, a resident of Sahem village. A case under Sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused. The Mehatpur police arrested a drug peddler, Karnail Singh of Parjian Kalan village in Ludhiana, with 20 tablets. The Lohian Khas police arrested 'drug peddler' Kulveer Singh of Nasirpur village with 26 tablets. oc
