Jalandhar: The Crime Branch team of Commissionerate Jalandhar arrested one person and recovered 20 g of heroin and Rs 1.50 lakh drug money from his possession. Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said under the supervision of Inspector Sarabjit Singh, the Crime Branch team apprehended one person identified as Joel Kalyan of Sarai Khas village during routine patrolling and checking of suspicious persons. From his possession, 20 g of heroin and Rs 1.5 lakh drug money was seized. oc

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have booked unidentified miscreants on the charge of stealing a motorcycle and scooter. Surjit Singh of Kakarr Kalan village and Rakesh Kumar of Model Town, Shahkot, complained to the police that unidentified accused had stolen their motorcycles. Sunni of Salaicha Road complained to the police that his scooter had been stolen. oc

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested a person on the charge of selling intoxicants. As many as 72 tablets were recovered from the possession of accused Lehmabar Singh of Pati Badal Ki, Bundala village. A case has been registered under Sections 22/ 61/ 85 of the NDPS Act against the accused. The Nakodar Sadar police arrested Jatindar, alias Kaka, a resident of Raheempur village, with 11 tablets. The Lohian Khas police arrested Akash Kumar Bagi of Mureedwal village, with 25 tablets. oc
Outsourced staff on strike
Hoshiarpur: The MC Outsourced Employees Union has now launched an indefinite strike to press for their demands. Members of the Safai Mazdoor Federation are also supporting the strike, led by president Kamal Bhatti. Outsourced employees gathered at the corporation office and raised slogans against the government. Bhatti stated that outsourced employees working in various departments have begun a struggle for their demands. The strike began in Hoshiarpur and will gradually spread , for which the government is solely responsible. oc

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a person on the charge of consuming heroin. The accused has been identified as Sukhdev Lal, alias Saabi, of Billga village. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act against the accused. The Lohian Khas police arrested 'drug addict' Indarjit Singh of Jalalpur Kalan village. oc
