Hoshiarpur: Two purses of the groom's mother were stolen from a marriage palace during the wedding ceremony. Apart from cash, these had gold jewellery. According to information, Tanuja of Nola Ghat, Una, Himachal Pradesh, told the police that the wedding of her son Vansh was organised on October 26 at Shiv Shankar Palace located on the Jalandhar road. She had kept both her purses on a chair and went. When she returned, the purses were missing from there. Her mobile phone was also there. The police have registered a case. oc
Woman hit by bus, injured
Jalandhar: A woman was seriously injured after a PRTC bus hit her in the early hours on Friday morning. The accident happened at Guru Ravidas Chowk in Jalandhar. The driver and bus conductor of the bus fled the spot. The woman was admiitted to a local hospital. Angered area residents also staged a protest, blocking traffic. The woman was waiting for a bus for Bathinda when the incident happened at 8 am. tns

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested a villager on the charge of selling illicit liquor. As many as 12 bottles of illicit country-made liquor were seized from the possession of the accused Malkit Sigh of Gounsuwal village. Heroin seized from man
Hoshiarpur: The police arrested a 'smuggler' during a naka near Dussehra Ground and recovered 50 gram of heroin from him. The accused has been identified as Rohit Kumar, resident of New Abadi. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act. oc
