Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked three persons on the charge of outraging woman's modesty. The accused have been identified as Pardeep Kumar, alias Kaka, a resident of Chamia village and his two unidentified accomplices. The victim complained to the police that the accused waylaid her and her sister on July 23 late evening, assaulted, and eve-teased them. A case has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused. The Nurmahal police also booked eight accused for outraging modesty of women. Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a man on the charge of consuming heroin. The accused has been identified as Lakhwindar Singh, a resident of Bajwa Kalan village. A case under Sections 27/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. oc

Phagwara: The Nurhahal police have arrested a villager on the charge of selling illicit countrymade liquor. As many as 25 bottles of hooch were seized from the accused Mangat Ram of Kot Badal Khan village. A case under the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. The police arrested Balkar Singh of Raharrwan village in Moga with 20 bottles of hooch. The Shahkot police have arrested a drug addict on the charge of consuming heroin. oc

Woman arrested with heroin
Phagwara: The Kapurthala CIA staff arrested a woman after recovering 100 gram of heroin from her during a patrol operation near Bhila village. The police said the suspect was stopped for questioning after which female personnel frisked her. The team recovered 100 gram of heroin from her possession. She was taken into custody. The accused has been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur, alias Billo, of Boot village. Virk said the woman would be produced before the court. oc
