Brief: Three killed in road accidents
Hoshiarpur: Three persons were killed in various road accidents in the area. Jaspal Singh of village Chak Sarwani told the police that his son Rohit (16) was returning from village Sangoktarala on a bike with his friend Vishal Singh. A trolley hit them and he died. The police have arrested the driver Somraj. In another case, Samson of Chakwal told the police that his father Saraj Masihhad left for Talwara on a bike. A truck hit his father and he died. While Gagandeep Kaur of village Ghuman of Gurdaspur told the police that her husband was going to village Jalalpur for some work. When he reached near Tanda, a truck loaded with sugarcane hit him. She told that her husband died. The police have registered a case. oc
Thieves decamp with cash, gold
Hoshiarpur: Thieves targeted a house in broad daylight and stole cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 90,000. Ravinder Kumar, a resident of village Badala Pakka, told the police that he was on duty while his mother had gone to her village. When she returned, the lock of the house was broken. He told the police that thieves stole cash and gold ornaments from his house. After registering the case, the police have started further action. oc
worker dies in bizarre mishap
Phagwara: Sita Devi (40) of the Rattanpura locality in Phagwara and employee of a private school lost her life when her hair got stuck in a school generator in New Model Town, Phagwara, on Thursday. During light rain after power shut down for some time, she went to switch off the generator, but as soon as she did it, her hair got stuck in the belt of the generator. She was immediately brought to the local Civil Hospital in a critical condition where Emergency Medical Officer Dr Ravi declared her brought dead. oc
