Phagwara: Two persons have been arrested for purse snatching near Sartaaj Public School, Phagwara. The accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh and Brij Mohan Tiwari, both residents of Chowkoki, Phagwara. Laxmi of Shyam Nagar, Phagwara, said she was returning home from work when two men riding a scooter snatched her purse and fled the scene. The bag contained ?10,000 along with some personal documents. While Mandeep has been arrested, Tiwari remains absconding. oc

Man held with 65 tablets

Phagwara: The police have arrested a man and recovered 65 intoxicating tablets from him. The accused has been identified as Gurpreeet Singh of village Sunwal, Kapurthala. While the police team was conducting checking near the village Gujra link road, a man was seen acting suspiciously. On noticing the police, he reportedly tried to throw away a black plastic-wrapped packet and attempted to flee. However, the police apprehended him and recovered 65 tablets, suspected to be a narcotic substance. oc

Wheat theft in Kapurthala

Phagwara: A case of theft has been registered in the district after around three or four quintals of wheat were allegedly stolen near Batnura Khurd village. Balvinder Kaur of Batnura Khurd said the lock of a storeroom in her haveli had been broken . Upon checking, she realised that a large quantity of wheat was missing. The police identified the alleged suspects as Inshan of Khurd Lubana, and Sunni of Batnura Lubana. oc

Couple held for drug peddling

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested a couple on the charge of selling intoxicating tablets. As many as 43 tablets were recovered from the possession of the accused Bhajan Lal, alias Bhajna, a resident of Bajuha Kalan village, and his wife Parwinder Kaur. A case has been registered. oc

Phagwara: The police have booked two miscreants on the charge of snatching a woman's earrings. Paalo (70) of Mohalla Rishi Nagar, Shahkot, complained to the police that two motorcycle-borne accused snatched her earrings on October 3. oc

Man held for selling liquor

Phagwara: The police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) absconding for the last few days. The accused Sonu Kabaria of Angakirri village was wanted in a case of theft in January 2023. oc
