Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by a Bihar resident Nand Kishore Shah, the Phagwara police have registered a case under Section 346, IPC, against a village youth Sonu Khan of village Palahai on the charges of abducting his minor daughter on the pretext of marrying her. The girl has been missing since April 1. No arrest has been made so far. oc

Peddler held with heroin

Phagwara: The police have arrested a 'drugs peddler' and recovered five gm of heroin and 42 intoxicating tablets from his possession on Sunday night. The accused, identified as Mahinder Singh of village Kotrani, was nabbed at a check point set up by the police. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered. oc

Two booked for cheating

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Jasmine Hora of Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, the Phagwara police have registered a case under the Copyright Act 1957 against a showroom Divya Kids Planet and trader Madan Seel on the charge of selling duplicate imported goods, including of a world fame company Michael Kores, etc. No arrest has been made so far. oc

Six booked for assault

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked six persons for assaulting a villager. The accused have been identified as Karan and Rakesh of Kotla Jangan village and Jatindar, Salindar, Geja and Saabi of Mudha village. Jasveer Singh of Mudh village complained to the police that the accused barged into his house on March 23 and attacked and injured him. A case has been registered against the accused. oc

In-laws booked for dowry

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked four members of in-laws' family for dowry harassment. The accused have been identified as Jagjit Singh of Daulatpur village in Ferozepur, his father Gurmail Singh, mother Balveer Kaur and sister Gurpreet Kaur. Parwindar Kaur, wife of Jagjit Singh and residing at Dariawale village, complained to the police that she was being harassed for dowry since her marriage and forced her to leave the house. oc

Woman held for peddling

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested a woman drug peddler on the charge of selling heroin. As much as 17 gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of Jaswindar Kaur, alias Jassi, of Pasla village. A case has been registered against the accused. The Bilga police arrested drug peddler Tirath Ram, alias Joti, of Mao Sahib village with 85 intoxicant tablets. oc
