Pastor robbed of car, 2 booked
Tanda Urmar: A pastor was robbed of his car at gunpoint by two persons at Talwandi Daddian village here on Saturday night. The pastor was injured in the incident. The incident occurred at around 10 pm. The police have registered a case against Mangal, a resident of Jabbowal near Begowal, Kapurthala, and an unidentified person, on the basis of the statement of Vijay Nanda, son of Hukam Nanda, a pastor of Beersheba Church, Tanda. Vijay Nanda told the police that as he came out of Neelam Kumari’s house at around 10pm on Saturday night, the accused pointed a gun at him and after firing a shot in the air, the pastor was pulled out of the car by them. They hit the grip of the revolver on his head and fled towards Jahura in his car. After registering a case, the police have started investigation. The pastor was admitted to the government hospital. ASI killed in accidental fire
Hoshiarpur: An ASI, posted at the Chabbewal police station, was killed after his service revolver accidentally went off and a bullet hit him on the head at his residence here this morning. According to information received, ASI Rajbir Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Niyara, had returned home from duty. Suddenly there was a sound of firing from his room after which the family members rushed into his room only to find him lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was declared dead. Mandeep, brother of the victim, said his brother died following an accidental firing while he was cleaning his service revolver. The police are investigating the matter. OC
70-yr-old security guard found dead
Jalandhar: Panic gripped PPR area of the town after the body of a 70-year-old man was found in the PPR mall premises here on Sunday. Residents, who were out on morning walk, intimated the police control room about the abandoned body. However, after the cops posted at police division number seven reached the spot, it was established that the victim lost his life due to heart attack as there were no injury marks on his body. The SHO said the victim used to work as a security guard at a private store inside the mall premises. The deceased has been identified as Rampal (70), a resident of Sofi village. As the family refused to lodge any complaint, the body was handed over to the family members. OC
