Phagwara: The police have arrested four persons on charges of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy. The accused have been identified as Arunn Sahota, alias Aashu, and Major, alias Laadi, of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Nakodar, and Sandeep, alias Seepa, of Shankar village and his brother Bhira. Chaman Lal had complained to the police that the accused killed his son and his body was found lying on Sharak Pur Road near Guru Nanak Nation College on July 30. OC

Man arrested under NDPS Act

Phagwara: The police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets. Investigating Officer Manjinder Singh said 140 intoxicated tablets were seized from the possession of the accused identified as Karamjit Singh, alias Karma, of Beetalan village. A case under the NDPS Act had been registered against. OC

4 women booked for assault

Phagwara: The police have booked eight persons for assaulting 60-year-old woman. The accused had been identified as Jindar Singh of Chak Vendal village, his wife Jaspreet Kaur, Harnek Singh, his wife Kulwinder Kaur, Balvir Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Malkit Singh and Sukhjinder Singh, all resident of the same village. Sukhwinder Kaur complained to the police that the accused barged into her house and attacked and injured her. OC

3 held for theft from shrine

Phagwara: The police have arrested three persons for stealing cash from a religious place. The accused have been identified as Vishal Preet, alias Vishu, of Kotli Gajran village, Gurpreet, alias Gora, and Karme Shah both residents of Bahmannia village. Sukhdev Raj of Bahmannia village complained to the police that the accused barged into the shrine of Baba Makhan Shah on August 10 and stole Rs 5,700. A case has been registered. OC

2 mobiles seized from jail inmates

Hoshiarpur: The Central Jail administration has seized two mobile phones from two undertrials. Assistant Superintendent Surinder Singh said when the undertrial Akul Kumar of Amritsar was returning from the bathroom in the jail, a mobile phone was recovered from him during the search. In another case, Assistant Superintendent Manjit Singh said during a surprise check, a mobile phone was recovered while searching the bag of undertrial Gurjant Singh of Amritsar. OC

Labourer dies in accident

Hoshiarpur: A migrant from Bihar died after being hit by a vehicle. The police have registered a case. Rinku Devi, wife of Chunmun Shah, who lives in Mandiala village, told the police that her husband was going towards a hotel in Mandiala bus stand. A vehicle hit him. She rushed her husband to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. OC
