Phagwara: The police have arrested a person for snatching and recovered two mobile phones and a bike from his possession last night. The accused was identified as Jaskaran Singh of village Pandhwa near Phagwara.The accused has admitted before the police that he had snatched the mobiles from a woman Resham Kaur on August 3. A case under the BNS has been registered against the accused, who has already been facing four criminal cases registered in Phagwara. OC

Three booked for duping villager

Phagwara: Following a complaint lodged by Surjit Singh, a resident of village Narangshahpur, the police have registered a case against three persons on the charges of duping him of Rs 4 lakh and allegedly implicating him in false cases. The accused were identified as Dinesh Kumar, Amritpal Singh and Navneet Kaur, residents of Hadiabad (Phagwara). The victim told the police that the accused took Rs 4 lakh after mortgaging two cars in two phases but both cars were proved to have been stolen. The police are investigating the matter. OC

Revolver, ammo seized from man

Phagwara: The police arrested a villager and recovered a .32 bore revolver and two live cartridges from him last night. The accused was identified as Prabhjot Singh, a resident of village Rampur-Khalian, Phagwara. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused. OC

Mother-son duo booked for attack

Phagwara: The police have booked a mother-son duo on the charge of assaulting a resident. The accused have been identified as Sarabjit Kaur of Mohalla Ravidass Pura, Nakodar, and her son Tarun Chahal. Yashpal, a resident of the same locality, complained to the police that he was returning home on August 3 when the accused waylaid and attacked him. A case has been registered. OC

Drug peddler arrested

Phagwara: The police have arrested a ‘drug peddler’ on the charge of selling intoxicant tablets. As many as 150 tablets were seized from Jatinder Singh, alias Sunni, a resident of Sohal Khurd. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him. OC
