The Shahkot police have booked six persons on the charge of assaulting a villager. The accused have been identified as Suraj and Uday of Talwandi Madho village, Sadhu of Tanga Torri village, Kamal of Mothawala village in Kapurthala and their two accomplices. Gurpreet Singh of Talwandi Butiyan village complained to the police that the accused waylaid him on September 7, attacked him with weapons and injured him.
Woman’s chain snatched
Phagwara : Two robbers on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from a woman on the Phagwara-Palahai road on Wednesday morning. Phagwara resident Ashu Sharma said he along with his wife was going to deposit school fee of their son on a two wheeler when the miscreants struck and snatched the gold chain from the neck of his wife and fled. Both victims fell from their scooter and sustained injuries too.The police have been informed.
Man held for aiding criminals
The police have arrested a Nakodar resident for harbouring criminals. The accused has been identified as Vishal Sabharwal, alias Bharrathu, a resident of Mohalla Rishi Nagar. The accused was harbouring those indulging in the acts of murder, snatching and ransom. A case has been registered against the accused and his two accomplices in June 2022.
Woman among 2 held for assault
The Mehatpur police have arrested two persons, including a woman, on the charge of assaulting a co-villager. The accused have been identified as Wariam Singh of Vehran village and Parmindar Kaur, also of the same village. Harnam had complained to the police that the accused and their two accomplices attacked him with weapons and injured him.
Resentment over rly wall
Resentment prevails among Phillaur residents against the railway authorities for constructing a boundary wall near railway tracks. Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Wednesday hold a meeting with officials of the Railways. Chaudhary assured the resident that amicable solution would be found to safeguard their interest and and amicable solution would be his priority.
Uncle killed over dispute
Hoshiarpur: In village Adamwa, a youth allegedly killed his uncle over a land dispute. The police reached the spot and started investigation. The victim's sister Sandeep Kaur told the police that her brother Varinder (32) used to work at a vegetable shop in the village. She said her elder brother had already sold his share of property and now he was claiming his right on the house, for which he was quarreling with her brother Varinder since long. oc
8 Houses given under PMAY
Phagwara: A ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Block Development and Panchayat Office, Phagwara, under the leadership of BDPO Rampal Rana, where keys to eight new houses under the PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) were handed over to beneficiaries. The approval letters for 13 additional houses were also given to the needy families.
