Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Ravi Kumar, a resident of Kaulsar Mohalla, the police have registered a case against two persons on the charge of attacking and wounding the complainant on Saturday night. The suspects were identified as Monu and Yamuna Devi, residents of Kaulsar Mohalla. No arrest had been made so far.

Two held for stealing bikes

Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have arrested two miscreants on the charge of stealing motorcycles. Investigating officer (IO) Harindar Pal Singh said the suspects were identified as Lakhwindar, alias Lakhi, and Balwant, residents of Pati Takhar Shankar village. The IO said the police had received secret information that the suspects were a habitual thieves. They were arrested with a stolen motorcycle at a naka. The IO said a case had been registered against the suspects.

Excessive drinking kills 40-yr-old man

Phagwara: A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances here on Saturday. The deceased (40) was identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of Ashok Vihar, Nakodar. He was rushed to a Shahkot community health centre where doctor declared him brought dead. Investigating officer Sarwan Singh said Shikha, wife of the deceased, told the police that her husband was a drunkard and might have died due to excessive drinking. The police handed over body to the family after a post-mortem examination.

Married woman goes missing

Shahkot: The police have registered a missing report in connection with the disappearance of a married woman. Investigating officer Sarwan Singh said Deepa (20), wife of Vikash Sharma, a resident of Mohalla Rishi Nagar, and her five-year-old daughter went missing from their house on August 6. A report was registered in this regard, he said.
