The Bahujan Sangharsh Organisation of India (BSOI) has condemned the recent incident in which a man, dressed in a lawyer’s attire, allegedly attempted to hurl a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai during a Supreme Court hearing.

In a joint statement, BSOI Chairperson Rajinder Ghera, Chief Spokesperson Dharminder Singh Bhullarai and senior leaders Tarseem Chumber, Surinder Rawalpindi and Monty Mahimi termed the act as not merely the misdeed of an individual, but as one rooted in a “Manuwadi mind-set” opposed to the spirit of the Indian Constitution.

The leaders described the incident as a “heinous and shameful act” carried out by forces that reject the ideals of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. “This was not an assault by a single man—it was the manifestation of a regressive ideology that refuses to accept constitutional values of equality and justice,” the statement said.

Calling for strict action, the BSOI urged the President of India to invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against the accused. The organisation also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe to uncover the forces behind the incident.
