More than a dozen passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a speeding bus and a truck on the Hoshiarpur–Dasuya road near Adda Bagpur Sator this afternoon. Both drivers sustained serious injuries, while the truck driver had to be rescued after a 2.5-hour-long operation using a crane and cutter.

Witnesses said a bus of a private transport company, coming from Dasuya towards Hoshiarpur at a high speed, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Bagpur Sator bus stand. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus rammed into the truck, leaving both vehicles mangled.

Nearly a dozen bus passengers were injured and rushed to hospitals. The bus driver was admitted to a private hospital, while efforts to retrieve the trapped truck driver continued for hours before he was pulled out and shifted to hospital in a critical condition.

A car following the bus also lost control and rammed into it from behind, leaving it damaged. Local residents assisted in shifting the injured to hospitals.

Due to the accident, traffic on the Hoshiarpur–Dasuya road remained blocked for over two-and-a-half hours.
