Cabinet Minister Brahm Jimpa inaugurates statue of ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’ composer

Punjab Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation, Disaster Management and Water Supply and Sanitation Brahm Shankar Jimpa inaugurated the statue of Pandit Shraddha Ram Phillauri at a newly constructed memorial in Phillaur here on Thursday.
The statue is installed at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) in Phillaur. Pandit Shraddha Ram Phillauri, born on September 30, 1837, in Phillaur, is renowned for composing the hymn “Om Jai Jagdish Hare”.
Jimpa highlighted the literary contribution of Pandit Phillauri to Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu, noting the significance of the hymn “Om Jai Jagdish Hare” in Sanatan Dharma. He emphasized the importance of remembering such great personalities and educating the new generation about them. He praised the initiative to establish the memorial in a school, allowing students to draw daily inspiration from such revered figures. The minister also planted a tree on the school premises during the event.
Jimpa reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to honouring individuals who have brought fame to the state.
He called for appropriate recognition and respect for their families. He encouraged the people of Punjab to honour such figures and focus on establishing memorials to guide and inspire the youth.
It is noteworthy that Pandit Shraddha Ram Phillauri’s literary works, such as Punjabi book ‘Punjabi Boli’ and Hindi novel ‘Bhagyawati,’ hold a special place in literature. Additionally, the hymn “Om Jai Jagdish Hare” is sung in Hindu temples worldwide.
