Jalandhar: The NSS Unit of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with KVIEWS and Blood Bank Amritsar, organised a blood donation camp. Around 100 units of blood were donated by enthusiastic students. The camp aimed to raise awareness about voluntary blood donation and promote social responsibility among youth. Dr Sudhir Sharma, Officiating Principal, praised the students and faculty for their dedication, emphasising that blood donation saves lives and helps maintain a stable supply for medical emergencies. Dr Ashok Kumar, NSS Coordinator, appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and encouraged continued participation in such initiatives. The event was attended by dignitaries including Ravi Mahajan (PRO KVIEWS), Dr Anum (Medical Officer), and lab technicians Suman, Pahul Preet Kaur, Munish Kumar, and Ranjana. Also present were esteemed faculty members Dr Kaushik, Dr Rajni Sharma, Dr Neeru Sharma, and Dr Aman Maini. The camp concluded on a positive note, reinforcing DAVIET’s commitment to social welfare and inspiring more students to contribute to humanitarian efforts.

Maths Activity

Eklavya School celebrated a mathematics activity to help students appreciate subject and build their confidence in it. Maths activity is designed to develop critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Students of Class 2 and Class 3 participated in various activities such as Addition and Subtraction Bingo, Shapes recognition, Action Addition and Subtraction, Maths Twister and Shape Scavenger. Maths becomes fun when it is interactive, said Chairman of Eklavya School, JK Gupta, adding that these games introduce a fresh dimension to learning, allowing students to engage with mathematical concepts playfully. Director of Eklavya School Seema Handa said that these activities encouraged the students to extrapolate beyond the information they receive in class.

Expert Talk held

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, hosted an enriching and insightful expert talk for its BTech, BCA, and MCA students. The session was organised by the Engineering Club. The resource person for the session was Mukesh Kumar, Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft India (R&D) Private Limited. With his vast experience in the technology sector, Kumar shared valuable insights on the critical skills required for securing placements in today’s competitive job market. Kumar discussed a variety of topics ranging from the skills demanded by service-based and product-based companies to the nuances of navigating interviews and assessments. He emphasised the importance of a balanced development of Knowledge, Attitude, Skills, and Habits (KASH), highlighting how these elements collectively shape a successful career. The session covered key aspects of preparing for placements, including the types of technical and soft skills expected, and the best practices for performing well in interviews. Dr Rajesh Bagga encouraged all the students to remain committed to learning and to keep honing their skills to stay ahead in the competitive world.

Retirement party organished

Dr Jaspal Singh, Principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College, was formally bid farewell in an impressive function held at the college. Prabhpal Singh Pannu, Member Managing Committee, presided over the function. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh was honoured by Pannu and Principal Dr Suman Chopra with a bouquet and a memento. Dr Rashpal Singh Sandhu, Staff Secretary, gave information about the life and academic journey of Dr Jaspal Singh. He expressed his views on the hard work, dedication and commitment of Dr Jaspal Singh to give a distinctive identity to the college in the fields of academics, sports, literary research and culture. Principal Dr Suman Chopra shared her thoughts on the time she spent with Dr Jaspal Singh. She added that Dr Jaspal Singh worked tirelessly to take the college to greater heights due to his far-sighted thinking and talent. She wished Dr Jaspal Singh a healthy life and family happiness after retirement. Dr Jaspal Singh started his service as the Professor and Head of the Department of Sports and Physical Education in Lyallpur Khalsa College from 1998. During his 22 years of service, the college won the Guru Nanak Dev University General Championship Trophy 18 times, which is a record in itself. During the event, a letter of appreciation was given to Principal Dr Jaspal Singh.

Farewell Ceremony for Class XII

Emm Aar International School bid a heartfelt farewell to its outgoing Class XII (batch of 2025) in a grand ceremony, ‘Prasthaan 2025’. The event was presided over by Chairman Dr Sarav Mohan Tandon, Director Dr Simmi Tandon, Director Principal Dr Ashish, and CEO Mohit Shinde. The programme began with a melodious tribute to the school’s management, acknowledging their continuous support and guidance. Held in the school ground, the farewell included a warm welcome speech by the students of Class XI. The event was efficiently coordinated by Stage Secretaries Aren Massey and Manpreet Kaur (Class XI), under the guidance of Coordinators Ridhi and Rupinder. The stage was beautifully decorated by Palavi, Rajni, Urvashi, Priya, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion. A special moment of the event was the passing of the mantle from Class XII to Class XI. The most awaited moment of the day was the announcement of the farewell titles, where Harshdeep Singh was honoured as Mr Emm Aar, Gursimran Kaur as Ms Emm Aar, Arshpreet Singh as the Best Boy of Emm Aar, and Hitika as the Best Girl of Emm Aar, receiving applause and appreciation from all.
