Jalandhar: Six final year civil engineering students of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology have got placed at Formulaic Engineers Pvt Ltd as Graduate Engineer Trainees (GET) with a stipend of Rs 20,000 per month during their final semester internship. The selection process comprised an online test, technical interview and HR interview. Formulaic Engineers Pvt Ltd is a leading firm specialising in valuations, advisory services, project management consultancy, land identification, construction schedule monitoring and appraisal. The selected students—Ashish, Bhupinder Singh, Uday Prashar, Chirag, Raghav Mehta and Ish—credited their success to rigorous preparation and training in industry-relevant software like AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, and Revit. Dr Sudhir Sharma, officiating principal of DAVIET, congratulated the students and emphasised the institute’s commitment to making them industry-ready through structured training and practical exposure.
Empowering young leaders seminar
Jalandhar: A seminar on ‘Empowering young leaders for sustainable development’ was organised by Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering. The seminar was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal as the chief guest. Other notable speakers included Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, Dr Kamaljeet Singh, founder and Chairman of Green Planet, and Mukul Verma, Executive Director, Savi International. The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, underscored the critical role of seminars on sustainable development in fostering awareness, encouraging responsible practices and shaping future leaders committed to environmental stewardship. Dr Aggarwal emphasised on the multifaceted approach required to achieve sustainable development. He elaborated that while environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation and resource depletion demand urgent attention, sustainability goes beyond ecological concerns—it is equally about social justice, economic equity and inclusive growth.
ISTE Best Teacher Award
Jalandhar: Prince Madaan, in charge of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering at Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, brought laurels to the institution at the recently held 54th Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) National Annual Faculty Convention, 2024. He was honoured with the Best Polytechnic Teacher Award–2024 for Punjab state at the event held at Lamrin Tech Skills University, Ropar (Punjab). The award ceremony was graced by ISTE president Dr Pratap Singh K. Desai and Executive Secretary Dr SM Ali. This prestigious award recognises the outstanding contributions to the academic community and students in the field of technical education. Principal Dr Jagroop Singh, along with other HoDs, congratulated and felicitated Prince Madaan on his remarkable achievement.
