Campus notes: Science fest
Students from Innocent Hearts School, Loharan branch, showcased their scientific prowess at the prestigious Science Fest 2024, held at Science City. In the senior category, Japsidak Singh and Ekam Dadra secured the first position for their innovative project 'The River Revival'. Their victory earned them a trophy, a cash award of Rs 7,000, and certificates of excellence. Devansh Kapoor and Gurneet Kaur brought laurels to the school by winning the first consolation prize for their project 'Smart Spark -- The RFID Ignitor'. They were awarded a trophy, Rs 1,000 in cash and certificates in recognition of their efforts. Principal Shallu Sehgal expressed pride in the achievements of students, lauding both the participants and their teachers.
District Wrestling Tournament
Jailpreet Singh of Class IX of Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School took part in School District Wrestling Tournament and bagged the first position in the state. He qualified for the national level tournament. He also got a silver medal in wrestling in the Under-17 65-kg weight category in ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan -2024‘ at the state level. The members of the management and principal Priyanka Sharma congratulated the student and his parents on his success.
Constitution Day celebrated
Constitution Day was observed in Shiv Jyoti Public School. Various activities were conducted to celebrate the day. A teacher talk on Constitution Day and preamble reading was organised for classes VI to X. The pledge on Constitution Day was taken by the students and teachers and these activities were organised by Aarti Tandon, Sonia Sharma and Neha Bhatia. Principal Parveen Saili apprised the students that observing Constitution Day involved not only celebrations but also reflection and education. The activity was performed under the supervision of Rumani and Shallu Magow, House Masters of Kirti House.
Constitution Day at HMV
Constitution Day was celebrated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya under the guidance of Principal Prof Ajay Sareen. The day marks the adoption of the Constitution of India. The PG Department of Political Science organised an online activity: 'Reading the Preamble and taking a pledge to commit ourselves to the constitutional values, rights and duties'. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen, Alka, Head of Department, Dr Jiwan Devi, faculty member and 70 students of PG and UG classes of Political Science department participated in this online activity. The participants pledged to remain committed to and respect the constitutional values and carry them forward to the next generation.
Two-day seminar
Baba Manjh Convent School hosted a two-day seminar on 'Strengthening evaluation and assessment practices' under the CBSE's Capacity Building Programme. The event saw active participation from the teachers and was guided by resource persons, Dr Gurmeet Kaur Gill and Dr Upasana Rishiraj. Principal Dr Paramjit Kaur Sidhu, also joined the seminar.
Basketball tournament
Students of St Soldier Divine Public School brought laurels to the group by securing third position in the basketball tournament from among 80 schools in an inter-school competition organised by GNA University. Schools from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala participated in the tournament. The school team was given a cash prize of Rs 1,100 and a trophy. Group vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra congratulated the school students and encouraged them to work hard.
